Robinson Cottages

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

ACCESSIBILITY:

Spend your vacation in one of our holiday houses to rent which are directly on the beach, on the Dalmatian islands.  Most of these former fisherman houses, prevailingly natural stone houses, also known as Robinson houses, are on the Island of Pasman -were previously accessible only by sea, but lately, many makeshift roads are made by the owners of the houses, by which roads many of the houses are more or less accessible by car. These makeshift roads that cross the island hills are somewhat coarse (gravel / earth) and can change significantly due to the influence of weather conditions eg rain – this can worsen the condition of the road much, for this reason, these roads are not passable for lowered cars, but that does not mean that you necessarily have to have an SUV or a four-wheeler. These roads are also passable for a normal car, with slow and careful driving. If the house of your choice is not accessible by car to a reasonable distance, safe parking is provided by the house owner.

These houses may be rented from Saturday to Saturday, few of them from Sunday to Sunday, for whole weeks only. Some houses are placed in “villages” – groups of houses near each other, some houses are more separate, but none of them is completely isolated. The sea and the coast are in Croatia common goods and cannot be one’s property. This means that there are no such things as private beaches or piers, and that anyone may, if they wish, come to the beaches or anchor on the piers in front of these houses, and no one is allowed to take any measures against that. These houses are not suitable for physically challenged persons.

EQUIPMENT:

Water supplies of these houses are from a private tank that each of the houses own. Water is transported to the houses by special ships, and is considered to be of great value. The capacity of the tank is not at disposal of one group of guests, but it should last for most, if not all, of the summer. Therefore, economizing with water is obligatory. Out of the same reason, there are no discounts or free stays for children of any age, as it is considered that children need even more water then adults. The showers in houses operate on the principles of free fall, and they provide only water on the temperature of the tank (basically cold, or slightly tepid). The outdoors showers either have smaller tanks painted black, that might need to be filled manually by the users of the accommodation, and in which the water would get naturally wormed by the sun, or there are thermo-bags (black plastic bags with pipes on their bottoms, which you hang on a sunny place to provide yourself with warm water).

Cold water is provided on the kitchen sink as well. This water is originally tap water, but as it is staying in the tank in hot weather, we recommend it to be boiled before drinking, or that the users of accommodation would purchase bottled water for drinking. Toilets might operate on the water from the tank, or on sea-water, which is also in such cases stored in a separate tank. The owner takes care of the filling of these sea-water tanks.

The stove and the refrigerator are operating on gas, from special bottles. The owner takes care that there would always be enough gas and a spare bottle in the house. The owner does the bottle exchange if and when it is necessary. Rarely there are operating ovens in the kitchen stoves – if that would be of importance to you, you should inquire about it. All kitchens are equipped with cookware, serving dishes and cutlery according to the maximum capacity of the house. Most houses are equipped either by a portable barbecue, or a built one. Charcoal is to be supplied by the users of the accommodation.

Bed linen is provided by the house owner, exchanged every Saturday. If you are staying longer then one week, the owner would come by on Saturdays to bring fresh bed linen, and take the old one, as well as the garbage accumulated during the week. Towels, both for bathroom and for beach, are not provided by the house owner, so the users of the accommodation should bring their own.

Any other necessities, groceries and items for personal or living space hygiene are also to be supplied by the users of the accommodation, in every and each item, however basic these would be.

The electricity in these houses is coming from solar panels, houses have batteries that accumulate the energy during the day, so that there would be light in the house during the night. It is not possible to plug in and use electric house appliances in these houses, even if they have 220V electricity (most of them have 12 V electricity) because these installations are not powerful enough to bare such load, so they might fall out, or even be damaged (which damage would be charged to the user of the accommodation, if it would be found that overload caused the damage).

Pets are welcome in most of these houses, for a surcharge, but only with a prior notice to, and an agreement with, the agency and the house owner.

Each of the houses is only for a certain number of people intended and therefore it is not allowed to arrive with one or more people over this number, certainly not without prior inquiry about this. In a case of an exceedance of this number, the owner has the right to immediate reservation cancellation without any consequences, including but not limited to legal and financial. Through consultation of the owner, with their consent and permission, it might be possible to accommodate persons over the capacity of the house, with a surcharge EUR 10,00 per person per day (this surcharge would exist even if no extra beds are available).

As a mobile phone might be counted as a necessity for the users of this kind of accommodation, it is possible to refill their batteries in most of the houses. As the electricity is of 12 V prevailingly, but some of the houses have 220 V and some have converters, it is best to bring both types of mobile phone battery recharger: the one that is used in cars as well as the one that is used in regular households.

GROCERY PROVISION:

Groceries supply is organized once a week, for those houses that are not accessible by car. Users of accommodation send their orders per SMS, on a telephone number acquired in the Agency, upon arrival. The orders should be given intelligibly, comprehensively, and unambiguously, especially in terms of the types and amounts of groceries, and the information about the accommodation unit they are using, because the delivered goods must be paid without exception.
